Who I am…

Hi! I’m Terri MacDonald, owner of SugarBear Stitches. I am a teacher by day, crocheter by night. I love settling into a new crochet project on the couch with all my pets. When I was younger my grandmother was always amazing at knitting and quilting and I couldn’t help but try to do what she was doing. Although I was no where near as good as she was, I tried my best and we loved to spend time together knitting.

My grandmother passed in 2015 and I hadn’t picked knitting back up for a long time. Then when Covid-19 hit and we all went into lockdown, I decided to try it out again. Fast forward a few months and in August of 2020, SugarBear Stitches was started! It has been a wild journey of learning new crochet skills and trying new patterns, but here we are today!

Why “SugarBear Stitches”?

When I was a kid my dad had this weird nickname for me, SugarBear. I never knew where it came from, or why that was the name he chose to call his daughter, but it stuck. 26 years later, and a tattoo of it on my arm, and he still calls me it. The name seemed fitting for this kind of business and I went with it.
